You'll be used to your home and office broadband being fast. Well, the good news is that Mobile Broadband can be just as quick as fixed-line broadband speeds on most networks.
This means that watching streamed video, downloading music, playing games or transferring files– whether documents, images, audio or movies – is easy even while away from your home or office.
- HSPA
- Mobile Broadband can reach speeds of 3.6Mbps on most HSPA networks, and up to 7.2 Mbps in 37 countries – speeds comparable to fixed broadband services.
- High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA)
- HSDPA gives you the ability to receive large files rapidly. At peak speeds, it can download a typical 3Mb music file in just 9 secs, and a 5Mbps video clip in just 14. HSDPA networks have been around for nearly two years and are deployed and offering mobile broadband in many countries around the world.
- High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA)
- HSUPA enables you to send large files rapidly. You can, for example, upload videos to YouTube in seconds. HSUPA is currently only available in a small number of countries, but is set to become commonplace in the near future.
- HSPA Evolved – also known as HSPA+
- HSPA+, will further increase network speeds by around ten times. HSPA Evolved will begin to be deployed in mobile networks in late 2008 and early 2009.
All of these acronyms mean Mobile Broadband, today!
